Presentation: Using Social Media for Situational Awareness

In the hours after a rapid-onset emergency social media can help humanitarian agencies and emergency responders get a better idea of what the situation is like on the ground. In the first part of this workshop we looked at “Geofeedia”, a tool that allows you to find geotagged rich-media assets in any geographic area. In the second part of the workshop we looked at tools that help journalists and communications officers verify user generated content.
