Social Media 4 Good

Exploring the use of Social Media for NGOs, non-profit organizations and to support humanitarian relief

Posted by Timo On September - 8 - 2009

Last week I gave a presentation at the IFRC’s communications managers meeting about social media in general and how we should use it. Below you find the largest part of that presentation. I removed the bits that were focusing very much on internal processes and steps that need to be taken in-house in order to make social media work. (Red Cross Red Crescent volunteers and staff can download the complete presentation from FedNet, the IFRC’s extranet.)

I hope you like it. Please tell me what you think.

By the way: this is the first presentation I’ve done since reading Nancy Duarte’s excellent “Slide:ology“, a book I highly recommend to anyone who wants to improve his presentation skills.

Thank you, Timo, for the smart presentation and the book reference.
Social Media is a challenge for us in order to let the news find the people through various ways. As you showed in your presentation: It’s not all about making noise, it’s also about listening.
And there’s quite a lot to hear… So here we go!
